Tania Serrano

Pilates, Movement and Anatomy Specialist

Fully Certified Stott Pilates Instructor

Tania Serrano is a life-long movement enthusiast. As a young person her mom shared her own love of sports and encouraged her to keep busy and active through outdoor play.

Tania found Pilates after the birth of her delightful daughter who is now 19. The sciatic nerve impingement she experienced in her 3rd trimester of pregnancy led her to discover the benefits of Pilates. This method of movement not only helped her to rehabilitate her low back pain but allowed her to feel connected with her body and mind. The change was so incredible that in 2008 she took the plunge and embarked on the teacher training program with Stott Pilates, Merrithew Health and Fitness.

She runs a successful private practice in the city and teaches at the International Headquarters Training Centre of STOTT Pilates in Toronto, Canada. Tania’s passion extends to working with people striving to feel good in their own bodies through smart movement and healthful lifestyle choices.

Her private client’s range from former competitive athletes, including dancers, Iron man participants, endurance cyclists, to members of the medical community and people living with Parkinson’s. She believes that there is always something to learn from every body and that the diversity of clients over the last fourteen years nurtures and inspires the perpetual student within. She continues to expand her education.

Another great passion of Tania’s is understanding the anatomical body at a deeper level. In 2018 and 2019 she completed two full body dissection courses through the Anatomy Trains Organization in the USA where she was able to get a true picture of the fascial tissues and explore the importance of looking at the body as a whole and understanding the interconnections of the fascial, muscular, skeletal and nervous systems. These systems all affect how we move - what effects one effects the other.

After performing the dissections with Anatomy Trains, Tania now brings this knowledge back to her students when, teaching the STOTT Pilates Functional Anatomy course as well as to her long-time clientele.

She can also be found online as part of the Pivot Sports Medicine Dance expert team whose mission is to collaborate, share and contribute positively to the global dance Community.
